Requirement
Key Housing is a specialist social landlord, supporting adults with disabilities and long-term needs. They manage 714 properties across 15 local authorities in Scotland. With only paper plans of their estate, and lacking accurate measurements to share with current and potential Grounds Maintenance contractors, Key approached gi Perspective in 2025 with an interest in our GIS data capture and mapping services.
Solution
Our Team firstly reviewed the 50 hard copy plans to provide Key with a fixed price for all scanning and capturing services. With the methodology and budget agreed, our GIS consultants scanned each map and then undertook the digitising of all Grounds Maintenance features using up-to-date imagery, to an agreed taxonomy and schema. First stage PDF map proofs were provided to Key for their Maintenance Officers to review on the ground.
Result
In total, we provided 70 PDF maps and accompanying tabular data containing measurements per maintenance type. Hard copy maps were returned to Key on project completion. The Maintenance Admin Team now have accurate and up to date records of all GM features for sharing with Contractors and delivering efficiencies.
