Promoting built and natural assets across the County
Requirement
Gi Perspective were contacted by Growth Lancashire, the organisation promoting productivity, prosperity and built and natural assets across the County. Growth Lancashire were seeking GIS Mapping expertise in the production of a series of maps for inclusion in conservation area appraisal documents.
Solution
Gi Perspective were provided with a range of annotated base maps, hand-marked with key observations related to each conservation area. These included assessments of individual buildings (e.g. positive or negative contributions to character), the significance of green spaces, and notable view lines—both positive and negative. Gi Perspective digitised this information and accurately mapped it against the Ordnance Survey MasterMap Topography Layer. The team also incorporated proposed changes to conservation area boundaries to create a comprehensive spatial representation of the appraisals.
Result
Growth Lancashire received a suite of clear, professional-quality PDF maps suitable for inclusion in their Conservation Area Appraisal documents. These maps effectively illustrated the character assessment data and boundary changes, providing an essential visual tool to support planning, decision-making, and public engagement.
