Requirement
gi Perspective were commissioned to produce an interactive policies map for the Emerging Local Plan for Spelthorne Borough Council. The intuitive interactive map allows users to search for an address, find the relevant policies and policy information. All policies on the map are hyperlinked to their relevant section of the Pre-Submission Local Plan.
Solution
The interactive map has been produced using the latest planvu Version 4 product – gi Perspective’s online web mapping tool for local authority planning, built on open source software. The Spelthorne Policies Map also features an Ordnance Survey aerial imagery layer in addition to the standard multi-scale topographic backdrop mapping.
Planvu version 4, launched in 2022 provides users with responsive design for tablet and mobile use as well as increased speed of map information display. Other improvements in Version 4 include:
- Full screen mapping
- The ability to hide the map key and layer
- Accessibility compliance through updated HTML mark up and improved keyboard navigation
