Capturing Grounds Maintenance Data for Phoenix Community Housing Association
Requirement
Phoenix Community Housing is a not-for-profit resident-led housing association with more than 6,000 homes based in south London. They approached gi Perspective to capture a series of Grounds Maintenance maps with our GIS data capture and mapping services, to provide more accurate and clearer information for their Grounds Maintenance contractors.
Solution
Phoenix Community Housing provided 81 poor quality black and white scans and an up-to-date list of addresses. Our GIS consultants sourced detailed reference base-mapping and address information from Ordnance Survey. The Grounds Maintenance features were captured into the GIS environment against the OS MasterMap Topography Layer and a building shape obtained for each address. We then carried out Technical quality control processes to ensure the data was complete and error free.
Result
We summed Areas by maintenance type for each estate and supplied this information in Excel format for costing purposes. We then supplied colour PDF maps of the grounds maintenance layer for use in the field. The project was completed within the agreed schedule and has provided Phoenix Community Housing with accurate and clear Grounds Maintenance information.
